ROAI 4-Quadrant (Summary)
The ROAI 4-Quadrant is the canonical visual for the ROAI 4-Category Framework. It plots each AI capability on two axes:
- Realised value: low → high
- Durability: transient → durable
The four quadrants correspond to four return-on-AI categories:
- Q1 – Productivity (low durability, value visible quickly)
- Q2 – Defensibility (high durability, value visible externally)
- Q3 – Institutional (high durability, value visible internally)
- Q4 – Category Positioning (highest durability, value visible to the market)
A mature programme expects capabilities to move across quadrants over 3–5 years: Q1 gains appear first; Q3 capability builds slowly; Q2 evidence compounds with operation; Q4 positioning crystallises last.
Production and Governance
- Source data: Per-capability, per-quarter ROAI 4-Category Framework readouts.
- Authorship: Governance pillar, with AI Council sign-off per the AI Governance Charter (GOV-01).
- Audiences: AI Council, board, senior leadership, and (redacted) external observers such as supervisors and major clients.
- Cadence: Quarterly under GOV-15; annually under STR-07.
The 4-Quadrant is a governance instrument, not a marketing asset.
