Accessibility
Advanta is committed to building a website and digital platform that is accessible to all users, regardless of disability, assistive technology, or browsing environment.
Our Standard
We design and build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, targeting Level AA conformance across all public-facing pages. This covers perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness — the four principles that underpin accessible web content.
We treat accessibility as an ongoing design and engineering commitment, not a one-time compliance exercise.
What We Do
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy throughout the site
- Keyboard navigation support — all interactive elements are reachable and operable without a mouse
- Skip-to-content link available on every page for keyboard and screen reader users
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios across text and interactive elements
- Descriptive alt attributes on all meaningful images; decorative images marked appropriately
- ARIA roles and labels applied to navigation, forms, and interactive components where native semantics are insufficient
- Responsive, mobile-accessible layout that adapts to varying viewport sizes and zoom levels
- Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
- Form fields labelled explicitly with visible labels and inline validation messages
- No auto-playing media; user-controlled video and audio where applicable
Assistive Technology Compatibility
The Advanta website is designed to be compatible with current versions of leading assistive technologies, including:
- NVDA and JAWS (Windows screen readers) with Chrome or Firefox
- VoiceOver (macOS and iOS) with Safari
- TalkBack (Android) with Chrome
- Windows High Contrast Mode
- Browser-level zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
Known Limitations & Ongoing Work
While we work toward full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some third-party content, embedded media, and complex interactive components may not yet meet every criterion. We are actively reviewing and improving these areas.
We conduct regular internal accessibility reviews and incorporate accessibility testing into our development process. When issues are identified, we prioritise remediation based on severity and user impact.
Documents & Downloads
Research reports and downloadable documents are provided in PDF format. We aim to produce tagged, structured PDFs that are compatible with screen readers. If you require an accessible alternative format for any document, please contact us and we will provide one.
Report an Accessibility Barrier
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on any part of the Advanta website or platform, we want to know. Please contact us with:
- The page or feature where the barrier occurs
- A description of what you were trying to do
- The assistive technology or browser you are using
