1. Purpose and Position in the Ecosystem

MAT-02 is the canonical Legal AI Readiness Assessment Scorecard. It is used to:

  • Establish a quantified baseline of AI maturity across all eight Legal AI OS pillars.
  • Capture evidence-backed scores using a 0–5 scale and pillar weightings.
  • Map the legal function’s position on the MAT-01 2D grid (Adoption Stage × Augmentation Sophistication).
  • Feed STR-02 strategic roadmap design and GOV-01 governance deployment.
  • Provide initial DPS (Defensibility Posture Statement) baseline evidence.

Ecosystem flow: MAT-02 → MAT-01 → STR-02 → GOV-01 → DPS.
